Imprivata partners with Microsoft for cloud-based platforms

A health IT security company has teamed up with Microsoft to unlock the power of cloud for their clinical users.

Imprivata’s end-to-end Identity and Access Management (IAM) cloud platform will be used to address challenges that healthcare customers face along their digital transformation journey.

IAM will use Microsoft’s cloud identify platform, Azure Active Direct, and support access to Microsoft cloud applications like Microsoft Office 365 for Imprivata’s healthcare customers.

Gus Malezis, president and chief executive at Imprivata, said: “The platform leverages the existing Imprivata investments of our joint customers, enhancing the return on investment of their current and future technology investments.”

At the first phase of the collaboration, Imprivata launched Healthcare Seamless SSO, enterprise single sign-on into on all shared clinical workstations and mobile devices.

It eliminates the need for clinical and non-clinical Microsoft users to repeatedly type usernames and passwords to access any programs and applications.

Healthcare Seamless SSO can be used with all types of applications, saving care providers an estimated 45 minutes per shift.

The Imprivata platform is also purpose-built to enhance additional workflows, including electronic prescribing for controlled substances.

Chris Sakalosky, vice president of Microsoft US Health & Life Sciences, added: “Imprivata has made great strides expanding on its proven, industry-leading solutions by integrating with Microsoft Azure Active Directory to help healthcare organisations leverage the cloud to lower costs.

“This product integration with Imprivata OneSign is the exact type of technological solution that we’re proud to offer to our healthcare customers.”
