National Orthopaedic rolls out Tiara9

  • 22 January 2014

The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust’s therapy department has begun implementation of the Tiara9 clinical administration system, starting with an online outpatient appointment module.

The deployment is designed to provide the trust’s clinicians and administrators with a more powerful appointment booking and electronic patient record system across multiple therapy disciplines.

A trust spokesperson said the deployment of the online outpatient appointment module is already improving the patient experience around appointment bookings.

Staff within the therapy department can view appointment availability and book and cancel appointment slots online. Appointment cancellations are automatically recorded and re-advertised, keeping availability records up-to-date and the introduction of an automated booking template has virtually eliminated appointment-booking errors.

Adrian Shentall, therapies administration and systems manager at RNOH said the implementation had gone relatively smoothly and the trust is looking forward to introducing the inpatient module, followed by the full EPR.

“This will bring a number of key benefits to patient care as all clinical data and patient treatment records will then be centrally stored and easily accessed,” he said.

“The fact that Tiara9 has been developed specifically for the therapies, with extensive clinical input, made it a particularly attractive solution for us.”
