John Quinn, chief information officer (CIO) at NHS England, has announced that he will leave the role at the end of March 2025, after almost two years.
In an email, seen byĀ Digital Health News, Quinn said: āI have decided to leave NHSE on 31st March 2025.
āThere are a mix of professional and personal considerations that have been factors in my decision. In making my decision now, I think it gives the NHS an opportunity to refresh as it goes through planning and prioritisation in readiness for the implementing the next Spending Review.ā
Professor Ian Abbs has confirmed his intention to stand down as chief executive of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust later in the year, once a replacement has been appointed.
Charles Alexander, chairman at the trust, said: “On behalf of the board I want to express our enormous thanks to Ian for his continued leadership, and for supporting the board to enable a smooth and well managed transition as we seek a future leader of equal calibre to lead this great organisation.”
Adam Memon, former special political adviser, has been appointed as strategy director at NHS England. He has already been working at NHSE for the past 12 months on health and employment as director of demand insights.
Ben Jeeves revealed in a post on LinkedIn that he will be leaving his role as associate chief clinical information officer (CCIO) at Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care Trust has announced that Ellen Rule will take over as chief executive in May 2025. She is currently deputy chief executive and director of strategy and transformation at Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board.
