Digital Health Intelligence (DHI), the market-leading independent London-based media business, has concluded a deal to sell its events, news and networks businesses to CloserStill Media, the fast-growing innovative producer of market-leading business events, exhibitions and conferences.
The intelligence business within DHI has not been sold and will transfer to a new entity, Future Health Intelligence (FHI) which continues to be owned and run by DHI founder, Jon Hoeksma.
The deal includes DHI’s flagship event, Digital Health Rewired. Launched in 2019, Rewired is the UK’s leading digital health event, attracting more than 3,700 delegates annually and connecting NHS IT leaders, professionals and suppliers with health tech and service providers.
Rewired 2025 will take place at the NEC in Birmingham from 18–19 March 2025.
The deal also includes Digital Health News, the leading health IT news service; and Digital Health Networks, the vibrant leadership community of over 7,500 NHS IT leaders, with its flagship annual Summer Schools event, the premier health IT leadership event in the UK.
Established 10 years ago, DHI has consistently provided the most original high-quality health IT news, events and leadership communities in the UK, with Rewired and Summer Schools both firmly established as the two leading events in the sector. Hoeksma remains as chairman of the Digital Health business working closely with CloserStill Media.
Hoeksma, explained the logic behind the sale: “I’m hugely proud of how the fantastic Digital Health team have built Rewired to become the market-leading trade show in just five years, and the phenomenal impact the networks have had in supporting the digital health leaders across the NHS.
“To further build on these foundations requires being part of a larger group who bring additional skills, resources and experience. CloserStill provides all of these skills and capabilities.”
Matthew Butler, group managing director at CloserStill Media, expressed his enthusiasm for the acquisition: “We are delighted to welcome DHI to the CloserStill healthcare portfolio.
“The team at DHI has created the leading UK event for the digital health sector as well as complementary news products and innovative education and networking experiences that are highly respected by its community and sponsors.
“We look forward to building on this strong foundation and exploring new opportunities for growth.”
The key DHI team will transfer to CloserStill Media and remain focused on ensuring the 2025 edition of Rewired is the biggest and best yet.
FHI will take over the intelligence assets of Digital Health, including the recently launched Bevan AI platform.
Hoeksma will lead the new FHI business and take on the role of chairman at DHI to provide transition support for the next 18 months to the DHI team, with a focus on networks and the Rewired programme.
“While continuing with the Digital Health business as chairman, I’m extremely excited about the potential for FHI, which I will be leading.
“We will initially focus on the core NHS installation and key contacts databases that form the heart of the service, but on top of this unique data we will provide clients with AI tools that provide granular insights into what all parts of the market planning, and much greater analysis and insight into where the market is going next,” Hoeksma said.
