Servelec looks towards digital primary care space for the first time

Supplier Servelec has announced it is intending to enter the digital primary care space for the first time.

Servelec has said it is planning to add some of its solutions and those of selected partners to the recently announced GP IT Futures framework.

It is hoped the framework, which is currently out for tender, will create an open, competitive market to encourage the best technology companies to invest in the NHS.

In practice, this will mean supplying cloud-based, modern systems that can share life-saving patient information seamlessly and securely – from GPs to hospitals and social care settings.

Neil Laycock, managing director at Servelec, said: “The GP IT Futures full tender is now out and is set to deliver the next iteration of the GP IT Systems, procured centrally and chosen locally. Most importantly, it provides the opportunity to increase the pace of digital innovation across primary care and support the creation and running of primary care networks across England.

ā€œIt gives Servelec a clear opportunity to leverage the knowledge we haveĀ in developing and delivering interoperable software in secondary care – extending it into primary care to help deliver seamless solutions for better outcomes.

“We will be adding some of our solutions to the framework, marking our first step into the primary care space. Whilst we are not at present aiming to deliver a primary care core system, we are aiming through our own solutions, and those of selected partners, to spearhead some of the innovation and change the NHS wants and needs.”

Servelec is looking to enable integration with social prescribing providers, mobile community-based working, whilst providing solutions for primary care to integrate more closely with community services and social care sectors.
