NHS workers selected for 2018 NHS Digital Pioneer Fellowship

A group of more than 20 NHS workers are to take part in a new scheme that will involve using digital innovation to design and lead transformation projects.

Professionals from a range of disciplines from 18 organisations across London’s foundation trusts, CCGs and arms-length bodies will take part in the 2018 NHS Digital Pioneer Fellowship.

The aim of the 12-month programme is to develop the group’s knowledge and capability in influencing, problem solving, change management and business case development, while delivering digital transformation for their organisations.

It is hoped that the fellowship, which has been launched by DigitalHealth.London, will mobilise a growing cohort of NHS staff who will be better able to meet the digital challenge in healthcare delivery, to deliver the impact that digital transformation can enable.

The project looks to support individuals through a peer and expert network to bring innovation into practice and develop the skills required to lead innovation.

Yinka Makinde, Programme Director, DigitalHealth.London said: “With increasing strain on NHS services and growing consumer demand for digital-based health services, the NHS Digital Pioneer Fellowship is the only programme of its kind solely focused on the digital health space.

“The programme aims to equip, inspire and connect participants with like-minded individuals to support the rapid uptake of innovations in frontline services.”

The fellowship is one of numerous projects being launched by DigitalHealth.London.

In March 2018, Digital Health News reported on news that the company had extended its digital healthcare accelerator programme to outside of London.

Successful applicants will receive one-to-one support from a designated ‘NHS Navigator’ as well as specialist training, support with product development, opportunities to meet experts from business, clinical, and government backgrounds, plus regular opportunities to showcase their products with NHS decision-makers and influencers.
