Cerner expected to announce cloud deal with Amazon

US health software giant Cerner is thought to be on the verge of announcing a major new cloud deal with Amazon Web Services (AWS) next week.
The deal would take AWS into the huge US healthcare market which has to date been slow to adopt cloud computing.
On Wednesday (Nov 22), CNBC reported that AWS chief executive Andy Jassy will next week announce, at its re:Invent conference, that Amazon is teaming up with Cerner, in a deal that will initially focus on cloud-based population health management
According to the unconfirmed CNBC report the partnership will initially focus on Cerner’s HealtheIntent population health management platformâ which enables hospitals to gather and analyse huge volumes of clinical data to improve patients’ health outcomes and reduce treatment costs.
Last year, Cerner Vice President and Chief Engineer Nathan Beyer spoke at the same re:Invent conference about the HealtheIntent platformâs use of AWS for storage, compute, networking and on-demand disaster recovery.

agree with you Dan, plus would add good use of IT saves peoples time
This is awesome news and the EU and UK will soon benefit from what is already happening in the US. The infrastructure these guys are putting in place is impressive. Sadly for patients in the NHS the next 5 – 10 years will probably be spent procrastinating about Amazon. Consumer directed exchange cannot come soon enough for patients so they can do as they please with their data.
